| I
just had to write you and tell you how
much I enjoyed your seafood gumbo. I really
hesitated trying it because I thought
I HATED okra. but yours was so crisp and
not at all slippery and slimy. I will
surely buy more of your products when
I can afford them, they are rather expensive
for a retired person. do you have coupons?
do you have other products, the safeway
I shop at only has this one. Lois

| Mr.
Robinson, I grew up listening to your
music and now, have to be careful of growing
out eating your fantastic food. The Red
Beans and Rice are incredible. Thank you
for everything and may God bless you.

| Smokey,
I came across your seafood gumbo in my
neighborhood Safeway for the first time
yesterday. I believe in supporting black
businesses, and I'm a Louisiana native
-- so, I couldn't pass it up. I decided
to give it a try and wasn't disappointed.
Some extra-hot hot sauce (I'm a sister
used to my food bein' on fire :-p), and
I was good to go. Low saturated fat, very
reasonable calorie count, and -- unlike
every other commercially prepared gumbo
I've ever tried -- I could really taste
the gumbo file (sassafrass). From someone
who remembers your music from wa-aay back
in the day ("Shop Around" and
"Mickey's Monkey"), congrats
on what I expect will be a highly successful
product line. Peace.

I

for such a TASTY TREAT....I purchased
enough for lunch and dinner for the week...
I hate to cook and you have made MY DAY...
Look forward to trying your new products!!!!!!

| I
do not need assistance, unless you can
help me spoon the delicious Smokey's soul
is in the bowl gumbo faster into my mouth.
It is absolutely delicious, and I tell
all my friends just how good every bowl
has been for me :-) At my store where
I purchase this, on the box it says "mild"
is there a spicier one than the mild? |
 |

| I
purchased your seafood Gumbo for the very
first time today from Safeway. I just
had to let you know that the taste of
the Gumbo is just like back home in Brookhaven,
Mississippi! All the flavor is savory,
and each bite was extremely enjoyable!
How come you didn't come out with this
sooner? LOL! |
 |
| I
am so thrilled that you are coming out
with a food line. Will you be putting
out coupons for people like myself on
a fixed budget? I would hate to be left
out. |

| Mr.
Smokey, I tried your Red Beans and Rice
dinner tonight and it was excellent! I
turned the TV on, and there you were singing
a song from your wonderful Gospel CD,
"Let Your Light On Me", it brought
tears to my eyes. May God continue to
bless you. Take care, Kathleen |
 |
Smokey,
Grew up with you ..now growing old with
you. As I write this I'm sitting here
eating your Gumbo! Big chunky pieces of
chicken, the okra firm and crispy and
the flavor is sooo good. Just like you.

Smokey,
I bought some of your "The Soul Is
In The Bowl" Seafood Gumbo at Safeway
last night. I was a little hesitant at
first, I am not very fond of frozen dinners
but, the Seafood Gumbo was DELICIOUS!!!
I have been your #1 Fan since the early
60's and now I have one more reason to
love you. Keep up the good work!! Looking
forward to seeing you in Vegas. Christina,

Happy
New Year and greetings from Chi Town!
I just had your gumbo for the first time!
Where can I order a case! I felt like
I was in New Orleans. Congratulations
on a great product!
T. Thomas, Chicago |
 |
I
don't know how we got so lucky in Chicago,
but we did. The guy at the Checkout line
asked how the gumbo was and I told him
it was the best fast food I've ever had.
And I've been known to drive 4 miles in
the opposite direction on my way home
from work to satisfy my gumbo craving.
I plan on taking it to lunch for work
and spreading the word. It's just the
thing for those cold winter days when
you can't think of leaving the building!
Keep on keepin' on, Baby! |
 |
| I
have now taste tested Smokey's beans and
rice and gumbo! It is just as easy to
be a fan of this cuisine as it is to be
a fan of his singing!! The okra is crunchy,
you can SEE the shrimp, and the beans/rice
combo is spiced just right! The portions
are generous and simple to prepare! Both
meals have ME singing! Congratulations!
Ava Thomas |
 |
| I
am going to get my first bowl of Gumbo
tonite, I heard about it being so good.
I am from New Orleans and I am looking
for some good home cooking gumbo, so now
I have found it. Thank you for bring home
to me! Ava Norman |
 |
| Well
Smoke you should have a hit on your hands
if your products ever get to the masses
it's going to run away because most people
have never had anything this good with
the convenience to match. I haven't tried
the gumbo yet, I will tomorrow but if
it's anything like the red beans and rice
both of them will always be in our freezer.
THANX MAN! |
 |
| The
Los Angeles chapter of the Tulane Alumni
group gave me a package of your seafood
gumbo. It's the best I've had since I
left NOLA! I'm going to recommend it to
all my friends who can't get to New Orleans
any time soon. Paige

| South
Louisiana born and raised, it was a culture
shock when I moved to Santa Catalina Island
off the coast of California. Your gumbo
helps wonders when I'm missing my Cajun
heritage. Plus, its only 230 calories!!!

| Fortunately
for me, but mostly for my husband, I came
across your seafood gumbo at Safeway,
and decided to give it a try. I bought
all that was left (only 2) and served
one to my husband for dinner that evening.
He's diabetic and does not particularly
have an appetite for food, generally.
All the while he ate, he complimented
it; Especially the okra. The next day
he asked about the gumbo (again), and
so I served him the second meal of it.
He continues to ask if "we"
have anymore of "that gumbo".
Because this is the one thing I can get
him to eat without giving me a hassle.
(He stays in bed most of the time because
'it keeps him warm', and so I have to
take him his meals in bed, and consequently
have a hard time making him sit up and
eat.) He eats every drop of this without
a fuss, and because of this, I was determined
to go out and find more, which I did,
at Albertson's. And because he enjoys
it so much, I served it to him for breakfast
before I left for my job the past two
mornings, knowing he would gladly eat
it. This morning I tasted it for myself,
and decided to stop by the nearby Safeway
and get one for my lunch if they carried
it. Luckily, they did, and now I've got
several people I work with interested
in it. Thanks for such a great frozen
entree. I hope you will eventually produce
it in family-sized portions packaging.
By the way, I've purchased the red beans
and rice, but have not tried them yet.

| I
just had to write you because I felt the
power of the "Soul in the Bowl."
The richness of the flavors and the obvious
soul you put into these recipes have just
overwhelmed me. My grandpappy once made
me a gumbo this good. I thank you for
bringing me back to my childhood. Your
music, your poetry and now your food have
warmed my heart and most importantly,
my soul. Thank you, Smokey. Thank you.

| Just
happened to see your seafood gumbo at
Tom Thumb's while looking for shrimp.
There was only one box left and the packaging
looked appealing,(especially with your
picture on the box), so I decided to try
it. IT WAS VERY TASTY!! I tried to save
some of it for my husband to taste, but
I ATE THE WHOLE BOWL. I'll definitely
buy some more next time I shop for groceries.

Just tried the Red Beans and Rice and
it is KILLER!!
Can't wait to try the Gumbo. When you

delicious and so convenient to take to
work. I'm looking forward to trying the
red beans and rice. Also, I saw your concert

Knight. It was spectacular. Thanks Smokey! |

| This
message is for Smokey, today 9-6-04, I
tried your "The Soul Is In The Bowl"
Seafood Gumbo, and what can I say, if
you hadn't become a great singer/songwriter
you would have become a great chef. I
did have one regret, I bought only one
bowl and when I finished it I wanted more.
So it's back to the store. Can't wait
for your red beans and rice. Wish you
the best. Sincerely, Edgar |
 |
Greetings,
I would like to know when your product(s)
will be introduced in the Denver area.
My daughter in Northern California is
enjoying the seafood gumbo and I am anxiously
waiting for the experience. Thank you,

Dear
Smokey,
This food sounds and looks great! Unfortunately,
I haven't seen any in the Boston (actually
Cambridge, MA) area. I've always loved
your music. You are one of my favorites.
I was in love with you when I was a teenager
(a while back). Have you ever think of
putting a cook book together with all
these recipes in it? I'd buy it! Peace
and God Bless You! Pam
|
 |
| I
was skeptical of frozen gumbo, but after
tasting your gumbo I am hooked. It is
extremely flavorful. I wish it was sold
in larger package. A bowl is not enough.
Can't wait for the red beans and rice.
