This item is eligible for preferred arrival shipping! Schedule the delivery of a suckling pig to arrive fresh for your next event or holiday celebration. For a special occasion feast or backyard cookout, there is nothing that impresses more than a whole roasted pig. Whether you spit-roast the pig over hot coals or use a roasting box, a crowd is sure to gather and enjoy the tender pork and extra crispy skin. If you choose to cook inside, a suckling pig can often be simply roasted in a full-size oven, and makes for fun weekend cooking. Cover the oven rack with aluminum foil and place pig diagonally. Be sure to line the bottom of the oven with additional foil, or use a sheet pan to catch all the delicious drippings. For serving, estimate 1 ½ pounds of pork per person. The leftovers will provide succulent pork for several lunches and dinners. D'Artagnan suckling pigs are selected breeds: Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire, raised naturally on small farms without added antibiotics or hormones. The pigs are milk-fed for 3-4 weeks, then eat a wholesome grain diet. They range in size from 21-30 lbs.
