Product Description & Reviews
Chery Shrimp are a great and affordable addition to the aquarium hobby. They are easy to care for and will breed prolifically in ideal water parameters. These Cherry Shrimp are a great start into the ornamental invertebrate world. They are known as cleanup crews and will go after leftover foods, algae, and any detritus in the bottom of your tank. To supplement their diet, we recommend sinking crumble foods twice a day. We highly recommend adding cherry shrimp to planted tanks with a handful of snails such as Nerites to help keep down algae and clean up any food the ravenous shrimp may have missed. If you have just started your research into Cherry Shrimp and other freshwater shrimps, you will probably have come across terms like Grades, Cherry, Sakura, Fire Red, and Painted. The "grade" of a shrimp refers to the coloration and appearance the respective shrimp is placed in. Regular "cherry" shrimp exhibit some reds, pinks, and patches of translucent along their bodies where large breeding females and adults get a solid red/pink coloration. In the picture you can see the variance in coloration based on one net scoop from a breeding colony. With higher grades come deeper and more solid reds, but at a much higher cost. Our cherry shrimp are bred here at our hatchery and we send you the reddest, best looking ones we can. Shrimp also take a few days to a week to show true color in a new tank environment. Cherry shrimp have a calm and non-aggressive disposition meaning they have no way of defending themselves. Therefore caution should be taken when adding shrimp with fish. Even friendly looking livebearers like guppies will consume your new additions quickly. We only recommend adding them with fish if the fish are "nano" sized such as Endlers, Boraras, etc. or scavenger type fish such as cory cats and otocinclus cats. We recommend keeping a shrimp only tank, or a invertebrate only tank setup to help maintain your colony.
